About Judy
I can provide directions to painting locations, maps, and also I could be helpful in finding the right place to stay, events that are happening in the area and general information.
I have been painting for about 15 years and paint a lot of local rural landscapes as well as some still life inside and plein air. My studio is located in Old Town Spring, a quaint shopping village located between downtown Houston and The Woodlands area just off Interstate 45. I have found that while I love to travel to other locales, the rural barns and Old Century Homes in this area still grab my attention. Oil is my chosen medium, although I have painted in pastel and watercolor in the past.
Judy began painting with Lindy Daly of Houston in 1990 and grew to love the process of oil painting. Since that time, she has taken workshops with notable professional artists such as Dan Gerhartz, Scott Christensen, Scott Burdick, Quang Ho, Ted Goerscher, Gay Faulkenberry and others. She is familiar with painting the Texas Landscape but has traveled the US painting other locales as well. Texas is her home though, a first love in painting the landscape. Judy has garned some impressive credentials such as "Collector's Choice" and "Artist to watch" by Southwest Art Magazine. She has written for and was published with International Artist Magazine. She won the William Schnieder Award of Excellence at the National Oil Painter's of America in Palm Dessert, California and most recently was awarded "best body of work" at Plein Air Texas, 2007. Artists Statement:
My goal as a comtemporary impressionistic realist painter is to create artwork that portrays the beauty of our natural creation faithfully and honestly to the best of my ability and to hopefully stir memories or emotion within my viewer. I strive not for a photo realistic duplication of the scene but to creatively and beautifully depict life and light as I see it regardless of subject matter. My goal is to continually reach for growth and vision, and with God's help, to be the best that I can be."
